Saxon Supports Local Community– Gunton Primary Academy
At Saxon Packaging, we don’t just believe in supporting our own work community but also our local community is very important to us. Through charitable donations or by active engagement, we always try to support locally where we can.
At the beginning of July, we (Saxon Packaging) received an enquiry from Michelle Smart (family support advisor / deputy safeguarding lead) of Gunton Primary Academy for 90 boxes to support a PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic) project for the schools previous year 6 pupils.
PSHE education focuses on developing the knowledge, skills & attributes to keep children and young people healthy, safe and to prepare them for life & work. Its goal is to equip young people with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthily, safely, productively and responsibly.
Having supported other schools in previous years, we of course were more than willing to support this project. With only two weeks before the end of term, our technical & design manager, Ben Watson, took on the challenge and had these boxes cut using our very own CAD tables.
The boxes were given to each pupil who had attended the lessons with their peer group and contained a range of toiletries which would support them to manage and maintain their personal hygiene.
“I felt that this was a crucial stage in their lives, adolescents moving onto high school where personal hygiene and presentation would play a very important part. I wanted to give them the confidence to move on smoothly.
The boxes along with the toiletries were received with excitement and enthusiasm. Some children even commented that they ‘had never had anything so good!’ Gunton Primary Academy will definitely consider conducting the project once again next year. ” – said Michelle.
“It really is great to be involved with something different from the day to day projects and even more rewarding when the project is for such a good cause. I’m speaking for the rest of us here at Saxon, in saying that we are all delighted to have provided and had the opportunity to support Gunton Primary Academy with this very thoughtful project.” said Ben.
