League Winners Saxon FC Delighted to Unbox New Kit Sponsored by Saxon Packaging

At Saxon Packaging, we’re all about creating memorable experiences - not only for our valued clients but also for our Saxon Packaging family! We’re committed to fostering a fantastic work-life balance for our staff, and at Saxon Packaging, we’re constantly “thinking out of the box”!

Kits and bits

Saxon FC was the brainchild of two Saxon Packaging employees and avid football enthusiasts, Jordan Gooch and James Hurren. The pair came up with the idea of putting together a Sunday League football team that was inclusive to everyone at Saxon, irrespective of age or ability.

So, as part of our ongoing drive to support extracurricular activities for our staff, we recently purchased official football kits for our colleagues who take to the pitch to play in a local 6-a-side football league called Saxon FC. The team was thrilled with their stunning new Saxon F.C. jerseys, shorts, and socks.

Worth the wait

Although it had been on the cards to equip the team with an official kit since the end of their first successful season, this was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Once lockdown was lifted, and the team could put on their boots and enjoy a runaround, the kit was ordered from a local sports kit supplier East Coast Sports, in Lowestoft.

In it to win it

The team takes part in Soccersixes, which is affiliated with the English Football Association. We’re thrilled to announce that Saxon FC has got off to a roaring start, having recently won the Local Lowestoft League two seasons in a row!

Friends through football

Saxon Packaging places considerable emphasis on creating a great working environment by encouraging health and wellness within the workplace and promoting interdepartmental relationships. This gives staff a chance to mingle with colleagues they wouldn’t usually get to interact with in their day-to-day activities at work. “It was a great feeling to be out on the pitch together doing what we enjoy. The new team gelled quickly with talent coming from both the factory and office staff,” comments Jordan Gooch.

“It’s wonderful to see that this little 6-a-side team has been so successful. After all, as a developing company with room for exciting growth, we want our staff members to be fit and healthy. If we can assist them with that by supporting this 6-a-side team, that’s a superb start!” says James Hurren.
