Official Statement COVID-19 9th April 2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19) message

As the Covid-19 crisis accelerates across the world, the health, safety and wellbeing of all who work for and with us remains our first priority. In addition to complying with all government and health authority recommendations, we have put in place further precautionary measures to ensure that we protect our work colleagues. These include, but are not limited to, implemented visitor access protocols to assist with prevention, introduced extra cleaning and additional hygiene procedures and communicating safe behaviour and practicing social distancing throughout our operations. Over the past few weeks, a growing number of our workforce have successfully transitioned to working from home to stop the spread of Covid-19.

As a critical part of the FMCG and pharmaceutical supply chain, our operations are considered an essential service by Government [insert local reference as needed) and public health officials. As a result, we continue to do everything we can to support you, our customer, and our communities to ensure the supply of many products such as medicines, essential medical equipment, food/beverages and hygiene cleaning products during these unprecedented times.

At Saxon Packaging (Smurfit Kappa), we are bringing our values of safety, loyalty, integrity and respect to life during this challenging time – keeping each other safe, respecting these new ways of working, demonstrating loyalty to our customers and working with integrity in how we respond to this pandemic. We are very proud of our people and due to their great work we continue to service our customers.  As this is an evolving situation, we continue to monitor and review the updates from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and will continue to review our policies and approach to Covid-19, as more information becomes available.

Finally, we want to let you know that Smurfit Kappa Group has approved a charitable donation of €1.5 million, to be spread across the affected communities in which we operate. This money will be used to provide much-needed community care and support, hospital supplies, safety equipment and whatever else is needed locally to help save lives and prevent illness in our communities. For the UK and Ireland, we have donated €150K across four charities: Age UKI; The Trussell Trust and Alone and Simon Communities.

These are unprecedented times. In our 80 year history we have never been more united in overcoming this great challenge. We thank you for your continued support.

Stay safe. #togetherstronger
