Nelsons Journey is a Norfolk charity that supports children and young people up to their 18th birthday that have experienced the death of a significant person in their life. They offer one to one support and opportunities to meet other children of a similar age who have also experienced a bereavement.
In November 2017, we were approached by Debbie Allerton from Nelsons Journey to see if we would be able to donate some beer packaging solutions for beer they had been gifted by World Beer Awards to sell at their ‘Beer and Bake sale’. The event was a great success raising over £1,000 for the charity and when it came to doing the event again this year we were more than happy to support them once again.
“Having heard of the charity before and aware of the great cause they support and we feel very lucky to be able to support them in the best way we can – with packaging!” said Carly, Sales Office Manager at Saxon Packaging.
This year’s event took place on Wednesday 18th October at Nelsons Journey’s home in Little Plumstead, Norwich. The Nelsons Journey staff donned their aprons and got baking creating rather yummy baked goods (which our Business Development Manager Adam was lucky enough to sample first hand!) and sold these along with various beer products.
Debbie from Nelsons Journey said “we were lucky to be given over 1,000 bottles of beer, from around the world, to sell at our beer and bake sale and the packs provided by Saxon Packaging enabled us to sell these as packs of 6 for £5. Without these we wouldn’t have had any way of packaging them that was sturdy, suitable for bottles of varying shapes and sizes and that would make it easy for our customers to carry their beer bottles safely. We luckily came across the lovely team at Saxon Packaging last year and got back in touch for this year’s event. We were sent 500 of their 6 bottle carry packs free of charge. This made a huge difference and allowed us to sell the quantity of beer with no trouble at all on the day. Thank you to all at Saxon Packaging for their help and support – you have helped bring back smiles to bereaved children thanks to your amazing packaging donation!”
