Eye-Catching Can Packaging for Ugly Drinks

Ugly Drinks is a London based brand started in 2016 by friends Hugh Thomas and Joe Benn who set out to disrupt the world of traditionally sugary or sweetened fizzy drinks. The brand exposes #theuglytruth of the soft drinks industry and produces flavoured sparkling water with no sugar, no sweetener, no calories and no artificial ingredients!

When it came to the packaging of their vibrantly designed cans, Ugly had previously worked with Smurfit Kappa (the umbrella Saxon Packaging sits under) and didn’t hesitate to get back in touch. “The Ugly team has worked with Smurfit Kappa on previous projects and we were always happy with the collaborative nature of the relationships. Because we wanted to create something truly stand out and different we knew we needed to work with a team that would work with us to achieve this.” said Hugh Thomas, CEO and Co-Founder.

When Ugly Drinks expressed an interest in lithographic printed packaging their enquiry came our way.

At Saxon Packaging we offer a range of printing options and we always discuss our customers’ requirement and packaging objectives before recommending which print process would best suit their needs. With the eye-catching vibrancy of the Ugly Drinks creative design and the grand scale of packs required, lithographic was certainly the best print process to use for their transit can packaging.

“For us at Ugly, creating stand out, premium packaging is a priority. We felt that lithographic printing gave us this stand out and made the experience of buying Ugly even more exciting”

To further enhance the packaging (and add to the buying experience) a matt laminate film was placed onto the lithographic printed sheet giving the packaging that extra touch of luxury.

This eye-catching packaging has now safely transported Ugly Drinks cans to 1500+ stockists across the UK where consumers are discovering #theuglytruth.
