Melt Chocolates from Notting Hill, London, were seeking a packaging supplier to fulfil their Easter bunny packaging requirement. The packaging was to include one of their hand made chocolate eggs and go on sale at Oxford Street’s Selfridges store in the run up to Easter.
After conducting an internet search, they came across our new website and gave us a call.
“Saxon Packaging were extremely helpful from the word go, with great customer service and a comprehensive understanding of printing methods” Josh, Melt Chocolates.
Melt Chocolates were very specific about the structural design of the bunny, however several artwork designs were considered for the bunny’s face but the main element was for the packaging to remain blank for children to be able to decorate themselves.
After listening to the brief in detail, we explored a number of options which necessitated looking at different material thicknesses, paper weights and print finish requirements. We sent Josh at Melt Chocolates several packaging samples demonstrating the varying grades that we recommended. The important thing to ensure was that the chocolate egg would be protected and that it would be able to withstand being carried by a child, excited to have their hands on such a yummy Easter egg!
There was also a very tight turn around required to ensure the products hit the Selfridges store on time. As usual we tried our very hardest at Saxon Packaging to support our client and made the deadline with a same day delivery.
After Josh tried the various options he approved a 200K/200T B flute, the heavier paper weight provided a good substrate to print directly to and the 3mm flute thickness gave the packaging a sturdy yet flexible finish.
The overall run was for 200, at this amount the most cost effective print solution was to use digital printing which also provided a crisp and sharp finish given the relatively fine text that was required.
“We enjoyed working on such an innovative project, and excited to know that packaging we have supplied will be making its way to Selfridges on Oxford Street.” Carly Blowers, Sales Office Manager, Saxon Packaging.
“We’re really happy with the bunny holders, we got them on sale over the weekend too which was great! Thanks for all your hard work, I’ll be putting a box of chocolates in the post.” Josh, Melt Chocolates.
We look forward to them Josh!
