At Saxon Packaging (Smurfit Kappa), the health, safety and wellbeing of all who work for and with us is of paramount importance.
As you will be aware, there has been a surge in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in mainland China and several other countries in Asia. Also in Europe the number of confirmed cases has increased, most notably in some regions in Northern Italy. In these regions and countries, we are adhering to and implementing all local government suggestions and instructions.
Given the global nature of our operations and more cases arising in Europe, we are taking additional precautionary measures to ensure that we do our best to protect everyone until the virus is under control. In this regard, we have:
- Asked our employees to restrict their travel
- Cancelled meetings of large groups of people from multiple countries and
- Are implementing a survey to understand recent travel of potential visitors to our workplaces to help further protect everyone.
Regrettably this does mean that we have taken the decision not to attend and exhibit at this year’s BeerX.
We are sponsoring a number of awards and will ask a SIBA representative to present them on our behalf and will continue to support SIBA as a Silver Member. We wish all those attending the exhibition a safe and healthy visit during these un-certain times.
We hope that you appreciate that our highest priority is the safety of both our employees and collaborators. As this is an evolving situation, we continue to monitor and review the daily updates from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and will review our policies and approach to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, as more information becomes available.
