Wayne joined Saxon in October 2015 as our Internal Sales Co-Ordinator, one of the most varied roles within the company. We caught up with him to see what a day in his shoes looks like and we weren’t surprised to find it was action packed!
8:50am Wayne arrives after the usual school run.
8:55am With a hot cup of tea he sits down to his computer and checks through any emails that have come in overnight.
“Every morning is different and the emails that may have come in will vary from customers making amendments to existing orders such as design and quantity changes, designs from our in-house design team and new enquiries from our website or Business Development Managers.” Said Wayne.
These are then prioritised to ensure all projects continue to stay on time and are not delayed.
9:30am After catching up Wayne gets to enquiry raising, inputting new customer enquiries onto our CRM (customer relationship management) system, detailing dimensions, box styles, printing options, quantities etc.
Once all of this information has been inputted, this is sent across to our Estimating team who then generate the quotation and send to the customer for approval.
10:30am (approx.) Time now to follow up on all previous quotations sent to customers to ensure they were received okay and if they require any additional information to process their order.
12:30pm After two hours of follow ups and general admin Wayne is back to enquiry handling.
1:30pm Time for lunch! But there is no rest for dad of 3, off to Morrisons and B & M to get family items.
2:30pm Back in the office Wayne checks through emails, and continues following up outstanding quotations.
3:15pm All quotes are now followed up and Wayne turns his attention to recent customers who’s orders have been delivered to check all is okay and to older customer accounts to touch base and discuss any current requirements they may have.
4:30pm A quick catch up with the in-house design team on current projects being worked on.
5pm The end of the working day has approached fast, time to collect the kids from various friends’ houses, have dinner with the family, put Burton Albion on the telly and relax….. preparing for yet another busy day to follow.
During the day alongside Waynes usual tasks, calls are continuously coming in from new and existing customers.
“I love the variety of packaging we make possible at Saxon; customer enquiries range from a small start-up company requiring 3 different style boxes, plain, in small quantities to a large brewery looking at a new 4 colour lithographic printed gift box for their new gin. Seeing projects from start to finish with a happy customer at the end makes a hectic day pleasurable” Said Wayne.
