A Day in the Life of Stuart- Business Development Manager

Stuart has over 30 years’ experience in the packaging industry, of which just under half of those years have been spent here at Saxon. With an extensive knowledge in both design and sales, he provides exceptional customer service on a daily basis. Recently we had the pleasure of joining Stuart on one of his jam-packed days and it really was as busy as it sounds!

Stuart at Desk

7am: Stuart wakes up bright and early to take his two dogs Ozzie and Poppy for a walk on the beach.

“It’s great to walk on the beach in daylight now spring is here!”  Stuart said.

8am: He arrives at the office to collect the samples required for the day, also managing to fit in a quick meeting with Steve (factory manager) to arrange a production trial for a new client.

9:30am: First appointment with a client in Norwich, specialising in aquatic products.

“I sort out two outer boxes to pack a new product, collect the product and gather information for a new enquiry. I make sure these are progressed promptly as the orders are urgently required.”

10:45am: Now Stuart heads off to see a client in Watton, Norfolk who produces car cleaning kits. He collects a product that is needed to size an export outer.

Stuart said that “this proved to be a bit of a challenge, as it needed to hold 22 bottles of differing sizes.”

However, he soon had the perfect solution!

11:15am: Before heading off to Diss, Stuart pick up two web enquiries emailed over by Carly our sales office manager and contacts both to get the relevant information needed to action them.

11:45am: Having arrived in Diss, Stuart takes in a sample of a wrap to hold large rolls of paper for a client.

“I tested this to make sure it fit the product and thankfully it fit perfectly – this was a relief as it was me who had measured it originally!” Stuart laughed.

He then arranged for a cutter guide to be sent over by the design team for the client to use to lay down their artwork.

12:30pm: It’s lunchtime! Only enough time for a quick sandwich though before he heads further south to West Suffolk.

1:30 – 4:30pm: Stuart visits three more clients in Suffolk, running through enquiries and ensuring packaging samples are fit for purpose.

5:15pm: He arrives at the office to raise urgent enquiries and to collect samples for the next day’s appointments.

6pm: It’s then home time for Stuart; which is conveniently just 5 minutes up the road!

”It’s time for tea and then it’s back on the beach walking those dogs. I spoil those hounds!” Stuart said.
